In short

  • Shared speedboat tours leave from Dubai Marina and last 45 to 100 minutes, passing JBR, Ain Dubai and Atlantis, with Burj Al Arab on the longer routes.
  • On booking pages checked on 2 November 2026, The Yellow Boats charged AED 149 an adult for 45 or 60 minutes and AED 249 for its 99-minute tour, with children at AED 99.
  • A private 21 ft speedboat for up to eight people was listed at AED 1,260 for an hour, about AED 158 a head with a full boat, so it only pays off for a group.
  • Speedboats are bumpy: operators turn away pregnant women and people with back problems, and The Yellow Boats takes no one under 120 cm tall.
  • For a slower evening with dinner, a dhow cruise costs about AED 75 to 140 a head, and a small private yacht starts at about AED 400 an hour.

What is a speedboat tour in Dubai?

A speedboat tour in Dubai is a guided sightseeing ride on a small, fast open boat, usually a rigid inflatable, from Dubai Marina along the coast to Atlantis The Palm and, on longer trips, Burj Al Arab. Most are shared: you buy a seat, sit with other passengers and follow a fixed route with a guide giving commentary and stopping for photos.

They are short, cheap compared with a private boat, and fast enough to be a ride in their own right. They are not a cruise: the boat is open to the sun and the spray, and it bounces over the waves.

Which speedboat route should you choose?

Choose by what you want to see. Up to an hour covers the Marina towers, JBR, Ain Dubai and Atlantis; Burj Al Arab needs 90 to 100 minutes, because it sits further down the coast.

Length Route Tours that run it
45 minutes Dubai Marina, past Skydive Dubai, to Atlantis at the top of the Palm The Yellow Boats, Atlantis Blast
60 minutes Dubai Marina, JBR, Ain Dubai and Palm Jumeirah The Yellow Boats, Marina Cruise
75 minutes Dubai Marina, JBR, Bluewaters and Ain Dubai, along the Palm to Atlantis The Yellow Boats, Atlantis Tour
90 to 100 minutes All of the above, plus Atlantis The Royal, the royal palaces and Burj Al Arab The Yellow Boats Premium Tour (99 minutes), The Black Boats (100 minutes), Xclusive Yachts (1.5 hours)

Routes from the operators’ listings on Visit Dubai Experiences, Arabian Adventures and GetYourGuide, checked 2 November 2026.

If Burj Al Arab is the photo you came for, book a tour of 90 minutes or more. If you mainly want the thrill and the Marina skyline, 45 to 60 minutes is plenty.

How much does a speedboat tour cost in Dubai?

A shared speedboat tour costs AED 149 to 249 per adult, depending on length, and children pay less. A private speedboat costs about AED 1,260 an hour for the whole boat.

Tour Boards at Length Adult Child
The Yellow Boats, Atlantis Blast Dubai Marina Walk, opposite Spinneys 45 minutes AED 149 AED 99 (4 to 12)
The Yellow Boats, Marina Cruise Dubai Marina Walk 60 minutes AED 149 AED 99 (4 to 12)
The Yellow Boats, Atlantis Tour Dubai Marina Walk 75 minutes AED 199 AED 99 (4 to 12)
The Yellow Boats, Premium Tour Dubai Marina Walk 99 minutes AED 249 AED 99 (4 to 12)

Xclusive Yachts, Marina to Burj Al Arab Al Majara, Dubai Marina 1.5 hours AED 149 Not listed; no under-5s
Private 21 ft speedboat, up to 8 guests Not stated 1 hour AED 1,260 for the boat Included

Checked 2 November 2026 on Visit Dubai Experiences, the Arabian Adventures booking page, The Black Boats listing, GetYourGuide and Fever.

Prices on booking sites move with promotions, so compare two before you pay. Cancellation terms differ too: The Yellow Boats refunds in full only if you cancel 48 hours ahead, The Black Boats and the Xclusive Yachts tour 24 hours ahead, and the private speedboat on Fever is non-refundable.

Shared or private: which is better?

Shared is better for most couples and families; private makes sense for a group of six to eight, or when you want your own route. At AED 1,260 for up to eight, a private hour works out at about AED 158 each with a full boat and AED 210 each for six, in the range of a longer shared tour, while two people would pay far more than two shared seats.

What a private boat adds:

  • Your own timing. You pick the start time and how long you stop for photos.
  • Extras. The Fever listing’s private boat includes a captain who doubles as guide, soft drinks, snacks and a towable ride.
  • Families together. No strangers on board, and you can ask the captain to take it gently.

What a shared tour gives you is a fixed price per seat, a guide with a microphone and a set route that already includes the landmarks.

How does a speedboat compare with a yacht or a dhow?

A speedboat is the quickest way to see the coast up close, and costs far less than a private boat; a yacht and a dhow are slower, roomier and better for a group or an evening out.

Shared speedboat Private speedboat Private yacht Dhow dinner cruise
Typical price AED 149 to 249 a head About AED 1,260 an hour, up to 8 guests From about AED 400 an hour for a 35 to 40 ft boat AED 75 to 140 a head
Time on the water 45 to 100 minutes From 1 hour Often a 3-hour minimum About 1.5 to 2 hours, in the evening
What it feels like Fast, bumpy, open to the sun Fast, on your route Slow, with shade, seats and a swim stop Slow, with a buffet and a show
Best for A quick look and a thrill Groups who want speed Celebrations and swimming Dinner with the family

Checked 2 November 2026. Yacht rates from Octane; dhow prices from Dhow Cruise in Dubai and Dhow Cruise Dubai Harbour.

The yacht rental prices guide breaks down hourly rates by boat size, and the dhow cruise guide compares the Creek, the Marina and Dubai Harbour.

Is a speedboat tour safe?

Yes, on a licensed boat with a briefing and a life jacket, but it is rough on the body. The Dubai Maritime Authority’s Circular No. 13 of 2026 requires every passenger on an open small boat outside inland waters to wear a life jacket, bans unlicensed boats and bans carrying more passengers than the licence allows.

The operators add their own limits, and they are worth taking seriously:

  • Pregnancy and backs. The Yellow Boats and The Black Boats both refuse pregnant passengers, and The Yellow Boats also refuses guests with back problems or impaired mobility.
  • Heart and age. The Xclusive Yachts tour lists itself as unsuitable for people with heart problems and people over 60.
  • ID. Every passenger needs a passport or Emirates ID, and The Yellow Boats turns away guests without one. The Black Boats also asks you to sign a passenger declaration.
  • Weather. Tours sail subject to Coast Guard approval and can be cancelled at short notice when the sea is rough. The Yellow Boats does not run on 31 December.

If you are unsure, sit near the back, where the ride is usually gentler, and tell the crew before you leave the pier.

Can children go on a speedboat tour?

Older children can, but small children usually can’t. The Yellow Boats sells child tickets for ages 4 to 12 and sets a minimum height of 120 cm and weight of 15 kg; children must also fit its life jackets. The Black Boats sells child tickets from age 3, and the Xclusive Yachts tour takes no children under 5. On The Yellow Boats and The Black Boats, children up to 11 must travel with an adult aged 18 or over.

For toddlers and babies, a dhow cruise or a private yacht is the better choice. The Dubai with kids guide covers other family days out.

What should you wear and bring on a speedboat?

Wear light, comfortable clothes and flat-soled shoes or beach sandals, which is what Xclusive Yachts asks for. Expect sea spray: The Yellow Boats says a soaking is unlikely, but The Black Boats suggests bringing a towel.

  • Sunscreen and sunglasses on a strap, since there is little shade.
  • A hat that won’t blow off, or none at all.
  • Your passport or Emirates ID.
  • A dry bag or zipped pocket for your phone.
  • Water is provided on the tours we checked, and Xclusive Yachts lets you bring cold snacks.

How do you book a speedboat tour in Dubai?

  1. Pick the route first: 45 to 60 minutes for the Marina and Atlantis, about 100 minutes if you want Burj Al Arab.
  2. Check the age, height and health rules for everyone in your group.
  3. Compare the price on the operator’s listing and one booking site.
  4. Read the cancellation terms, which range from 24 hours to non-refundable.
  5. Note the exact pier. Dubai Marina Walk, Pier 7 at Dubai Marina Mall and Al Majara are different points around the same marina.
  6. Arrive 15 to 30 minutes early with ID. The Yellow Boats may treat late arrivals as no-shows.

What if you want a private boat instead?

Yalla Dunes doesn’t run speedboat tours, but it does sell private yacht charters from Dubai Marina for up to 12 guests, with a captain, crew, soft drinks and life jackets for adults and children. The 2-hour Palm and Atlantis cruise covers the same ground as a mid-length speedboat tour at a slower pace, and the 3-hour Burj Al Arab cruise adds a swim stop. For an evening with dinner, there is the dhow dinner cruise, with a hotel transfer on request. If you’d rather drive yourself, the jet ski guide explains the prices and the rules, and Dubai on the water lists every other way onto the water.

How long is a speedboat tour in Dubai?

Between 45 minutes and about 100 minutes for a shared tour. A 45 or 60-minute trip covers Dubai Marina, JBR, Ain Dubai and Atlantis at the tip of the Palm. Older children can. The Yellow Boats charges a child fare from age 4 but sets a minimum height of 120 cm and a minimum weight of 15 kg, and children must fit its life jackets. Is a speedboat tour or a yacht better in Dubai?

A speedboat is better for a short, fast look at the landmarks at a low price per person. Small yachts started at about AED 400 an hour on listings checked in November 2026, with a three-hour minimum on some.

Where do speedboat tours leave from in Dubai?

Most shared tours leave from Dubai Marina. The Yellow Boats boards on Dubai Marina Walk opposite Spinneys, The Black Boats at Pier 7 next to Dubai Marina Mall, and Xclusive Yachts at its boarding point at Al Majara. Some private speedboats leave from Palm Jumeirah or Dubai Harbour, so check the pier before you book a taxi.
