How much does a jet ski cost in Dubai?

A guided jet ski ride in Dubai costs about AED 300 for 30 minutes and about AED 600 for an hour from the fishing harbour at Umm Suqeim, on listings checked on 2 November 2026. Longer hires cost more: Xclusive Yachts charges AED 1,500 for two hours. The length of the ride sets the price, followed by where you book it and whether a sale is running.

Nemo Watersports, on Visit Dubai’s booking site Fishing Harbour, Umm Suqeim 2 30 minutes, Burj Al Arab AED 299
Nemo Watersports, on Arabian Adventures Fishing Harbour, Umm Suqeim 2 60 minutes, Burj Al Arab and Atlantis The Palm AED 599

Checked 2 November 2026 on Visit Dubai Experiences, Arabian Adventures, GetYourGuide and Xclusive Yachts. Prices change by date.

The GetYourGuide figure is a “from” sale price, so expect to pay more for the longer option or a busy date. Nemo’s rides include an instructor, life jackets, water, photos and lockers at the base. Xclusive Yachts asks riders to sign a damage waiver and leave a refundable cash deposit.

Is the price per person or per jet ski?

Usually per jet ski, with room for two. Nemo’s GetYourGuide and Platinumlist listings say two people can share one jet ski at no extra cost, and Xclusive Yachts prices each one for two guests. Visit Dubai’s booking page labels the same Nemo ride “per adult”, so ask before you pay.

In practice a couple pays once, and a family of four needs two jet skis, with an adult driving each one.

Where can you ride a jet ski in Dubai?

Most rides start from the fishing harbours at Umm Suqeim and Jumeirah, a few minutes from Burj Al Arab, or from Dubai Marina and JBR. Gulf News, citing an official jet ski guidelines flyer, names the approved riding areas as Dubai Marina, Umm Suqeim 1 and 2, and Jumeirah 2 and 3.

The routes grow with the time you book:

  • 30 minutes: out of the Umm Suqeim harbour, along Jumeirah Beach to Burj Al Arab for photos, and back.
  • 60 minutes: Burj Al Arab, then up the coast to Atlantis The Palm, which is Nemo’s one-hour route.
  • Two hours or more: enough to link JBR, the Palm and Burj Al Arab in one ride. Xclusive Yachts lets you start from JBR, Atlantis or Burj Al Arab.

On every guided ride an instructor leads on their own jet ski and sets the route and the pace. You can go fast on the open stretches, but you follow.

Where are jet skis not allowed in Dubai?

The Dubai Maritime Authority’s Circular No. 13 of 2026, issued on 5 March 2026, keeps jet skis out of these areas:

  • Inside Palm Jumeirah and Dubai Harbour, unless the owner or manager of the area has given prior approval.
  • The Dubai Water Canal, where jet skis and other watersports craft are banned outright.
  • The waters in front of Dubai Ladies Club, which are closed to every kind of motorised boat.
  • Inside the beach separation buoys that mark swimming areas. No power-driven activity is allowed there, and any boat inside them is held to 5 knots with no wake.
  • More than 2 nautical miles from the shoreline.

Rental companies must also stick to the areas and times the authority approves for each location. The circular bans selling rides at sea too, including jet skis that come up to yachts to offer rentals, which it calls unsafe and unauthorised. If that happens on your cruise, say no.

What are the rules for jet skiing in Dubai?

You wear a life jacket the whole time, ride behind a certified instructor, stay in the approved area and finish before sunset. The Dubai Maritime Authority (DMA) circular puts most of the burden on the rental company:

  • Permits. Each operator needs a valid DMA marine activity permit for its approved location, and DMA approval for each beach it works from.
  • Instructors. Rental companies must provide a certified instructor, at least one for every five jet skis, who stays with riders for the whole rental.
  • Tracking. Every rental jet ski must carry a working tracking and remote-control system, and be inspected and repaired before it is rented out.
  • Life jackets. Compulsory for every jet ski user, at all times.
  • Hours and range. Back before sunset, and no further than 2 nautical miles out.

The fines are real. Gulf News lists AED 1,000 for riding without a life jacket or helmet, AED 1,000 for riding outside the designated areas and AED 2,000 for disturbing or harassing others, and reports that a joint Dubai Police and DMA inspection campaign in July 2025 issued 431 fines and impounded 41 jet skis. In August 2026 the Ports Police named speeding, skipping the life jacket, riding into swimming areas and inexperience as the usual causes of accidents, and recommended a helmet as well (Khaleej Times).

Do you need a licence, and how old do you have to be?

You don’t need a licence on a guided rental, but the driver must usually be 16. None of the listings we checked asked visitors for a boating licence. They asked for an original passport or Emirates ID, and Xclusive Yachts says a photo on your phone won’t do.

Ages are set partly by the rules and partly by each operator:

  • The rule. Gulf News, citing the RTA’s rules, says a jet ski driver must be at least 16 unless accompanied by a guardian or a qualified coach.
  • Nemo Watersports. Drivers from 16; children aged 5 to 16 may ride as passengers with an adult. No under-5s or pregnant women. One of its Platinumlist pages gives 14 as the minimum for riders, so confirm when you book.
  • Xclusive Yachts. Drivers must be 18 or over to rent; under-18s ride as passengers behind an adult.

One Jumeirah listing on Platinumlist also requires riders to be able to swim, which is sensible wherever you book.

When is the best time of day to go jet skiing?

Morning, for most of the year. Nemo’s rides run from 8am to 5pm, and the DMA wants every rental back before sunset, which was at 5:37pm on 2 November 2026 according to the UAE’s National Center of Meteorology.

Heat is the other factor. Long-term NCM averages put the daily high at 36.8°C in May and 40.6°C in July, against 30.5°C in November and 24°C in January. From May to October, take the first slot of the day. From November to March the afternoon is comfortable, and a later slot gives softer light on Burj Al Arab, as long as you are back before dark.

Whatever the season, check the forecast. Dubai Police advise against riding in strong winds or rough seas, and operators cancel or reschedule when the sea is closed. The best time to visit Dubai guide has the month-by-month weather.

What should you wear on a jet ski in Dubai?

Wear swimwear, or light clothes you don’t mind soaking, which is what Xclusive Yachts and the Platinumlist listings recommend. You will get wet, even as a passenger.

  • Cover up against the sun. A rash vest or long-sleeved top saves your shoulders. The NHS advises at least SPF 30 and reapplying straight after you come out of the water.
  • Keep your eyes covered. Sunglasses on a strap stay on; a cap usually doesn’t.
  • Leave valuables ashore. Nemo’s base has lockers and changing rooms, and its guides take photos for you, so your phone can stay dry.
  • Bring original ID. A passport or Emirates ID for every rider and passenger.

Swimwear is fine at the harbour and the beach. Cover up for the café or the walk back to the car, as the Dubai dress code guide explains.

How do you choose a safe jet ski operator?

  1. Book a guided ride from a fixed base, such as a harbour or marina kiosk, with a named company. Never take a ride offered at sea.
  2. Ask whether the price is per jet ski or per person, and how many minutes you actually spend on the water.
  3. Ask how many jet skis go out with each instructor. The legal maximum is five.
  4. Check the age rules and bring original ID for everyone.
  5. Have your life jacket fitted and fastened before you leave the jetty, and ask for a helmet.
  6. Read the weather and cancellation terms. Nemo’s listings on Visit Dubai and GetYourGuide refund in full if you cancel 24 hours ahead, but terms differ from one booking site to the next.
  7. Tell the instructor if you have never ridden before, and ask for a slow first stretch.

Is a jet ski the right way onto the water for you?

A jet ski suits confident riders who want speed and a close-up photo of Burj Al Arab. If half your group would rather watch, a boat makes more sense. A shared speedboat tour covers the same coastline at speed without anyone driving.

A private yacht keeps everyone together. The 3-hour Burj Al Arab cruise from Dubai Marina includes a swim stop, and the yacht rental prices guide explains what charters cost. Yalla Dunes does not sell jet ski rides. If you’d like to drive something fast yourself, though, the dune buggy tour puts you behind the wheel in the red dunes, following a lead guide. The Dubai on the water hub compares every boat trip in the city.

Questions

How much is a 30-minute jet ski ride in Dubai?

About AED 300. On 2 November 2026, Nemo Watersports’ 30-minute guided ride from the Umm Suqeim fishing harbour to Burj Al Arab was listed at AED 299 on Visit Dubai’s booking site, and its GetYourGuide listing showed a sale price from AED 139 per jet ski. Prices change by date and season, and most operators charge per jet ski rather than per person, so check before you pay.

Do you need a licence to ride a jet ski in Dubai?

Not on a guided rental. None of the listings we checked asked visitors for a boating licence; they asked for an original passport or Emirates ID. You ride behind a certified instructor, and the Dubai Maritime Authority requires rental companies to provide one for every five jet skis, staying with riders for the whole rental.

What is the minimum age to ride a jet ski in Dubai?

Usually 16 to drive. Gulf News, citing the RTA’s rules, says a driver must be at least 16 unless accompanied by a guardian or a qualified coach. Nemo Watersports lets drivers ride from 16 and children aged 5 to 16 sit behind an adult as passengers. Xclusive Yachts only rents to drivers aged 18 or over. Under-5s and pregnant women cannot ride.

Can two people ride one jet ski in Dubai?

Yes. Most rental jet skis seat two, and Nemo Watersports says two people can share one at no extra cost. Xclusive Yachts prices each jet ski for two guests. The driver must meet the operator’s minimum age, and a child passenger must sit behind an adult. A family of four will normally need two jet skis, each with an adult driving.

Can you ride a jet ski at night in Dubai?

No. The Dubai Maritime Authority requires jet ski rental companies to have riders back before sunset, and Dubai Police tell riders to stop as soon as the sun goes down. Sunset was at 5:37pm on 2 November 2026 and comes later in summer, so check the time on your date and book a slot that ends well before it.

Can you jet ski past the Burj Al Arab and Atlantis?

Yes. The most common rides leave the fishing harbour at Umm Suqeim, a few minutes from Burj Al Arab, and the one-hour routes carry on to Atlantis The Palm. Jet skis are not allowed inside Palm Jumeirah or Dubai Harbour without the area manager’s approval, so your instructor sets the route and you follow.
