How much more does a private desert safari cost?

For a group of four, a private evening safari costs roughly two and a half times as much as a shared one. On Excursion Point’s listing, four adults paid AED 676 in total for the shared seven-hour safari with dinner and AED 1,748 for the private version with a waiter-served dinner.

The gap narrows as the group grows, because private trips are priced mostly for the vehicle. The same private evening cost AED 1,102 for one adult. DesertFun’s private morning car, which seats up to six, cost AED 800 whether one or four people booked it, against AED 150 a head for the shared trip, so four people sharing the private car paid AED 200 each.

For a couple, a shared trip is the better value unless you want your own pace, a car seat for a child or no strangers in the car. For a family of four to six, private starts to make sense.

How do morning, evening and overnight safari prices compare?

Morning safaris are the cheaper timing because they have no camp dinner. A shared morning trip cost AED 110 to 150 per adult on the listings above, against AED 169 to 239 for an evening trip with dinner and shows.

Overnight safaris cost the most because they include a tent, two meals and a guide through the night. OceanAir’s overnight trip with a private air-conditioned tent cost AED 694 per adult; the same trip with a luxury dome, plunge pool and garden cost AED 4,500 for the booking. The morning, evening or overnight guide compares what you get on each.

How much do quad bikes, buggies and other add-ons cost?

A quad bike is the most common add-on, and it added AED 88 to 150 per person on the listings we checked. OceanAir charged AED 95 more for a 35-minute quad ride on its four-hour safari and AED 88 more on its evening safari. DesertFun charged AED 150 more for its option with a 30-minute ride on a 400cc quad and a short camel ride.

  • Quad bikes. A self-drive ride, usually 30 to 35 minutes. OceanAir notes that its insurance does not cover the quad ride, so check your travel insurance.
  • Dune buggies. Safaris with a buggy in the title showed “from” prices of AED 111 to 335 per person on GetYourGuide’s Dubai list; check that the buggy is in the option you pick. The dune buggy or quad bike guide explains which suits whom.
  • Sandboarding. Usually included. Arabian Adventures notes it depends on the weather.
  • Photos. Guides on several listings take photos for you; printed souvenir photos are sold separately.
  • Shisha and alcohol. Shisha is included at some camps and charged on site at others. Alcohol is not included on the OceanAir and Excursion Point listings, which sell it at the camp.

What is usually included in a desert safari price?

A standard shared safari price includes hotel pickup and drop-off, the dune drive, sandboarding, a short camel ride and water or soft drinks. Evening packages add the camp, a BBQ buffet with vegetarian dishes and live shows. The rest varies by listing.

Read the “includes” list closely. The dune drive lasts 30 to 45 minutes on most listings. Camel rides are short: Excursion Point’s itinerary gives five minutes. Henna painting, Arabic dress-up for photos and a photo with a falcon are included on some trips, such as OceanAir’s evening package. Tips are listed as optional and are not included.

What makes one desert safari cost more than another?

Six things move the price, roughly in this order:

  1. Shared or private. Your own vehicle is the biggest single jump.
  2. Dinner and camp. A seven-hour trip with dinner costs more than a four-hour trip without it, and a premium camp with several buffets costs more again.
  3. Where it goes. Arabian Adventures’ private trip into the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve is priced well above the private Lahbab trips in the table, and it says part of the fee goes to conservation.
  4. The vehicle. Heritage trips in vintage vehicles cost more: Visit Dubai Experiences listed a shared heritage morning safari in a vintage G-Class, with breakfast, from AED 490.
  5. Add-ons. Quads, buggies and private tables.
  6. The date. Booking sites change prices by date and run discounts; the listings above showed 15% to 25% off on 2 November.

How can you spot a desert safari deal that is too cheap?

Be careful with any trip priced far below the table above. On 2 November one new GetYourGuide listing, with no reviews yet, advertised a “premium” safari with a quad bike and dinner from AED 66, less than other operators charged for the quad ride alone. It may be genuine, but it is worth asking how.

  1. Ask who runs it. Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism requires safari companies to register their drivers and vehicles, with an RTA off-road permit for each driver, an RTA inspection and GPS for each vehicle, and comprehensive insurance.
  2. Read the inclusions. Check that dinner, shows and the camel ride are in the option you are buying, not just in the photos.
  3. Ask about pickup. Shared trips collect several hotels; OceanAir notes that guests from Sharjah are picked up first and dropped off last.
  4. Look for extras sold at the camp. Quad bikes and shisha are charged on site on some trips.
  5. Check recent reviews. A brand-new listing with no reviews and a very low price is a risk you can avoid.

Which desert safari should you book?

Pick on what matters most to your group. Book a shared evening safari if you want the full programme for the least money, a morning safari if it is hot or you have small children, and a private trip if you are four or more or want your own pace.

Yalla Dunes sells private safaris only, run by Khat Tourism, a licensed Dubai operator. A safari is priced for the whole Land Cruiser, for up to six guests, with hotel pickup, and the cards below show the current price: a private evening safari, a morning safari, or a quad bike tour if you would rather drive yourself.

Questions

How much is a desert safari in Dubai per person?

For a shared trip, expect about AED 110 to 150 per adult for a four-hour safari without dinner and AED 169 to 239 for an evening safari with a BBQ dinner and shows. Those are prices on GetYourGuide for 16 November 2026, checked on 2 November. OceanAir’s overnight trip with a tent cost AED 694 per adult. Prices move with the date and the discount on the day.

Is a private desert safari priced per person or per car?

Mostly per car. One Lahbab operator listed its private morning safari at AED 800 for the car. Excursion Point’s private evening with dinner cost AED 1,102 for one adult but AED 1,748 for four, so the price per head falls sharply as your group grows. The private cars on the listings we checked seat up to six, so check the vehicle size and the total for your group.

Do you tip on a desert safari in Dubai?

Tipping is optional. The listings we checked show gratuities as optional and not included in the price, and none of them set an amount. If your driver drove well and looked after your group, a tip at the end of the trip is a welcome thank-you, and cash handed to the driver is the simplest way to give it.

Is dinner included in the price of a desert safari?

Only on evening and overnight packages. Four-hour safaris, whether morning or afternoon, usually include dune bashing, sandboarding, a camel ride and soft drinks, but no meal. Seven-hour evening packages add a BBQ buffet with vegetarian dishes and shows at a camp. Overnight packages add breakfast. Check the option you pick, because the same listing often sells both.

Why are some desert safaris so cheap?

Shared trips fill each 4x4 with other travellers, keep the dune drive to about 30 to 45 minutes and sell extras such as quad bikes, shisha and photos on site. That keeps the base price low. A very low price can also mean a long shared pickup loop, a short programme or an unlicensed vehicle, so read what is included and ask who runs the trip.
