When is the best time to visit Dubai?

November to March is the best time to visit Dubai for most people. Average daytime highs sit between 24°C and 30.5°C, nights are mild, and you can spend the whole day outside. October and April are warmer shoulder months that still work well, and June to September is hot enough to change how you plan each day.

The trade-off is price and crowds. Winter is high season, while Visit Dubai says many hotels, restaurants and attractions are cheaper in summer. If you want good weather and fewer people, aim for November or March.

What is Dubai’s weather like month by month?

Dubai has two seasons: a warm winter and a very hot summer. The table uses long-term averages from the UAE’s National Center of Meteorology (NCM) for air temperature and rain, and Weather2Travel for the sea.

Month Average high Average low Sea temperature Rain days What it feels like
January 24.0°C 13.7°C 23°C 1.8 Coolest month; a jumper at night
February 24.6°C 14.5°C 22°C 3.7 Mild, one of the wettest months
March 27.9°C 17.0°C 23°C 3.8 Warm days, still comfortable
April 32.4°C 20.1°C 25°C 1.6 Hot by midday
May 36.8°C 23.5°C 29°C 0.4 Start of summer heat
June 38.8°C 26.1°C 31°C 0.0 Very hot and humid
July 40.6°C 28.9°C 33°C 0.1 Hottest month
August 40.4°C 29.3°C 33°C 0.1 As hot as July
September 38.7°C 26.3°C 33°C 0.0 Still summer
October 35.1°C 22.7°C 31°C 0.0 Heat easing, sea at its warmest
November 30.5°C 18.3°C 28°C 0.3 Warm, settled, start of high season
December 26.2°C 15.4°C 25°C 2.0 Pleasant days, cool evenings

Checked 2 November 2026. NCM figures are averages for 1974–1991 published by the World Weather Information Service; a rain day has at least 0.2 mm of rain. Individual days and years run hotter or cooler than the average.

Sunshine is reliable all year: Weather2Travel averages 8 hours of sun a day in winter and 10 to 11 hours from April to October. What the table doesn’t show is humidity. Weather2Travel rates heat and humidity as “extreme” from June to September, which is why summer feels worse than the numbers suggest. Pack a light layer from December to February, when Visit Dubai says evenings can feel chilly.

When is Dubai busiest, and when is it less expensive?

Dubai is busiest in winter. Visit Dubai says most tourists come during the milder months, the high season, and describes May to October as the off-peak season. It also says many hotels, restaurants and attractions are cheaper in summer, when venues run special packages, with rooms at budget brands from about AED 150 a night.

In practice that means booking early for December and January, especially around the Dubai Shopping Festival and New Year. In summer you trade heat for lower prices and quieter attractions. Late October, November and March are the sweet spot between the two: October has the year’s warmest sea, at 31°C, and November’s average high is a manageable 30.5°C, while March brings 27.9°C days before the heat builds in April.

What’s on in Dubai in 2026–27?

The main events in the 2026–27 season fall between October and May. Dates here come from the organisers or official announcements; anything described as expected can still move.

  • October 2026. Global Village opened Season 31 on 14 October and runs until May 2027, every evening from 4pm.
  • November 2026. The Dubai Fitness Challenge runs from 31 October to 29 November. Its Dubai Run, along Sheikh Zayed Road, is on 22 November, according to The National.
  • December 2026. UAE National Day is a public holiday on 2 and 3 December, according to u.ae. The 32nd Dubai Shopping Festival starts on 4 December.
  • January 2027. The Dubai Shopping Festival ends on 17 January.
  • February and March 2027. Ramadan is expected to begin on 8 February, with Eid al-Fitr on 9 or 10 March.
  • May 2027. Eid al-Adha is expected on 16 or 17 May, according to the Astronomy Centre forecast reported by Khaleej Times. Global Village’s season ends during May.
  • July and August 2027. Dubai Summer Surprises is the summer retail festival. The 2026 edition ran from 2 July to 30 August, according to Gulf News; 2027 dates had not been announced when we checked.

Seasonal attractions such as the Miracle Garden open for the cooler months only; the Dubai Miracle Garden guide has its current season and tickets.

When is Ramadan in 2027, and should you avoid it?

Ramadan 2027 is expected to run from Monday 8 February to 8 or 9 March, with the exact dates set by the moon sighting. You don’t need to avoid it. Visit Dubai says restaurants operate as normal and there are no restrictions on eating and drinking in public for people who aren’t fasting, and the February and March weather is some of the year’s best.

Expect some opening hours to shift later, and quieter evening shows at some desert camps. The Ramadan in Dubai for tourists guide covers the dates, the rules and the etiquette.

What is summer in Dubai really like?

Summer in Dubai is hot day and night. From June to September the NCM averages show highs of 38.8°C to 40.6°C and lows of 26°C to 29°C, and the sea warms to 31°C to 33°C, so a swim cools you less than you’d hope. Walking between sights at midday is uncomfortable for most visitors.

What still works is anything early, late or indoors:

  • Early mornings. Desert trips that start at dawn are back before the worst of the heat. Our morning safari picks up at 7:30 to 8 AM and returns you to your hotel by late morning, and the morning safari with a quad bike does the same with an hour on the dunes.
  • Evenings. Evening safaris pick up in mid-afternoon, reach the dunes for sunset and serve dinner after dark. Some operators adjust their summer programme: Arabian Adventures, for example, moves its evening safari to its Fort Lisaili camp in July and August.
  • Indoors. Visit Dubai points to Ski Dubai at Mall of the Emirates and the ice rink at Dubai Mall, and the indoor things to do in Dubai guide has more.

The morning, evening or overnight safari guide explains which desert trip suits the season.

Which month should you choose?

Choose by what matters most to you:

  1. The best weather: December to February, with highs of 24°C to 26°C.
  2. Warm sea and bearable heat: late October, November or April, with the sea at 25°C to 31°C.
  3. Events: December and January, for the Dubai Shopping Festival and New Year.
  4. Lower prices: May to September, if you’re happy to live by the air conditioning.
  5. Culture: Ramadan, for iftar tents, night markets and a different side of the city.

Questions

What is the hottest month in Dubai?

July, closely followed by August. Long-term averages from the UAE’s National Center of Meteorology give July an average daytime high of 40.6°C and August 40.4°C, with nights that only drop to about 29°C. The sea is no relief either: Weather2Travel puts the average sea temperature at 33°C in both months. Midday sightseeing outdoors is hard work from June to September.

Does it rain much in Dubai?

Very little. The wettest months are February and March, with an average of 3.7 and 3.8 rain days, according to the National Center of Meteorology’s long-term averages. From May to October there is almost no rain at all. A wet day is possible in winter, so it’s worth having an indoor plan, but rain rarely shapes a trip.

Is it cold in Dubai in winter?

Not by most standards. January is the coolest month, with an average high of 24°C and an average low of 13.7°C. Visit Dubai says evenings between December and February can feel a little chilly and suggests a light sweater if you’re outside after dark. Pack a layer for early-morning trips and evenings in the desert as well.

When are hotels in Dubai less expensive?

In summer. Visit Dubai says many hotels, restaurants and tourist sites are cheaper in the hot months, when lots of venues offer special packages, and that rooms at budget brands can go down to about AED 150 a night. Most tourists come in winter, the high season, so December and January are when you should book early.

When is the Dubai Shopping Festival 2026–27?

The 32nd Dubai Shopping Festival runs from 4 December 2026 to 17 January 2027, a 45-day season announced by Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment. It combines retail promotions and raffles with concerts, mall events and activities across the city. The organisers said the full programme would be announced closer to the start, so check the official channels for specific events.

Is Dubai worth visiting in summer?

It can be, if you plan around the heat. Average highs reach 38.8°C to 40.6°C from June to September, so do outdoor things early in the morning or after dark and spend the middle of the day indoors. In return you get lower hotel prices, according to Visit Dubai, and the Dubai Summer Surprises festival, which ran from 2 July to 30 August in 2026.
