How hot is Dubai in summer?
Very. The World Meteorological Organization’s long-term averages for Dubai put the mean daily high at 38.8°C in June, 40.6°C in July, 40.4°C in August and 38.7°C in September, and even May averages 36.8°C (WMO). Nights stay warm too, with average lows of 26 to 29°C in those months. These are the 1974 to 1991 averages WMO publishes. In practice, do outdoor things before mid-morning or after sunset and spend the middle of the day inside.
What is Ski Dubai and how much does it cost?
Ski Dubai is an indoor snow park and ski slope at Mall of the Emirates, and every pass includes outfit and equipment rental, so you do not need to pack a ski jacket. The passes on the official site:
- Snow Base, AED 190: one visit to the Snow Park, unlimited Snow Park rides, the daily penguin march, clothing rental and fleece gloves.
- Snow Park Pass, AED 249: adds one chairlift ride and one Mountain Thriller, a hot chocolate and a free locker.
- Snow Daycation, AED 335: unlimited rides and chairlift, plus one of a 40-minute penguin encounter, two zipline rides, a two-hour slope pass for experienced skiers, or a 60-minute ski or snowboard lesson.
- Snow Premium, AED 499: the penguin encounter and zipline together, plus a slope pass or lesson.
Passes start at age 2, and children aged 2 to 13 must be with an adult who also holds a ticket. A family of four can buy Snow Daycation for AED 1,000, which is four for the price of three.
What is there to see at Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo?
Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo, on the ground and second floors of Dubai Mall, is one of the largest indoor aquariums of its kind, with a 48-metre walk-through tunnel (Visit Dubai). The tank’s main wall faces into the mall, so you can watch the sand tiger sharks and rays for free.
Tickets on the official site:
- Silver, AED 199: the tunnel, the Underwater Zoo and Penguin Cove, plus a AED 20 shop voucher. UAE residents get 15% off, which made it AED 169.
- Gold, AED 269: adds a glass boat tour, fish feeding and dining vouchers.
- Platinum, AED 399: adds skip-the-line entry and an animal encounter.
- Aquarium and At the Top combo: the aquarium and the Burj Khalifa decks on the same day. The aquarium’s own combo is AED 339 for adults (the AED 279 shown on its listing is the child price), and At the Top sells its own version for AED 319, so compare the two before you buy.
It opens from 11am to 9pm on weekdays and 10am to 9pm on weekends, with last entry at 8:15pm.
Is IMG Worlds of Adventure worth it?
IMG Worlds of Adventure is the big indoor theme park option, and it is worth it if your group will spend a full afternoon and evening on rides. General admission costs AED 365 including VAT on the official site, with 50% off for senior citizens and people of determination at the park ticket counter. It opens from 12pm to 10pm Sunday to Thursday and until 11pm on Friday and Saturday.
The park is split into zones: Marvel rides themed on Spider-Man, the Hulk and the Avengers, the Lost Valley dinosaur zone, Cartoon Network, The Haunted Town and the IMG Kids Zone inflatable play area, which costs AED 50 an hour or AED 100 a day on top of the park ticket. Outside food and drinks, including water bottles, are not allowed in.
Where can you see Dubai from above without going outside?
The Burj Khalifa observation decks on Levels 124 and 125 are mostly indoors, with an optional outdoor terrace; a standard adult ticket cost AED 189 on the official site, rising to AED 219 for slots from 4:30pm to 7pm. The Dubai Frame costs AED 50 plus VAT, and its galleries and glass-floored Sky Deck are all inside. Sky Views Observatory, on the Address Sky View towers in Downtown, costs AED 89 for a glass lift to Level 52, a 25-metre glass floor and the Glass Slide (At the Top).
Where can you see animals and gardens indoors?
The Green Planet at City Walk is an indoor rainforest with birds, sloths, reptiles and other animals; it opens from 10am to 6pm every day and gives three hours of free parking in the City Walk underground car park (The Green Planet). Dubai Butterfly Garden in Al Barsha South holds 8,000 to 10,000 butterflies in climate-controlled domes and is open all year, from 9am to 6pm, for AED 52.50 (Butterfly Garden). Its neighbour, Dubai Miracle Garden, is outdoors and closes for the summer.
What indoor things in Dubai are free?
The malls themselves are free and air-conditioned, and Dubai Mall has the aquarium wall and, outside on the lake, the evening fountain shows. Alserkal Avenue’s galleries in Al Quoz, Jameel Arts Centre at Jaddaf Waterfront, the Coffee Museum in Al Fahidi and the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library on the Creek all cost nothing; book a slot at the library first. The full list is in free things to do in Dubai.
Is the Museum of the Future open?
No. The Museum of the Future closed on 1 September 2026 to build new exhibitions and is due to reopen in the first quarter of 2027, according to Khaleej Times. Some ticket resellers may still list it, so do not book until the museum announces a date.
How do you plan a hot day in Dubai?
Plan the day around the sun:
- Early morning: do the outdoor things first. A morning desert safari collects you at 7:30 to 8am, while the dunes are cool, and has you back at your hotel by late morning.
- Midday: go indoors to Ski Dubai, the aquarium or IMG Worlds.
- Late afternoon: go up the Burj Khalifa or the Dubai Frame for the view.
- After dark: walk the Dubai Mall waterfront for the fountain, or head to the beach once the sun is down.
The metro is air-conditioned and links Mall of the Emirates, Dubai Mall and the Dubai Frame; see getting around Dubai. For the best time to visit Dubai and the full list of things to do in Dubai, see the other guides.
